| Several months ago I was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship to complete a Doctorate of Ministry degree at Northeastern Seminary. I am mulling it over...I don't know...Dr. Schweitzer? How ostentatious is that? Anyway, I miss, being on a campus, having theological discussions that challenge my current assumptions, being with folks for whom life conformity to the letter and spirit of the Gospel is the priority. Do I sound spiritually hungry? Yes. The one exception to the above is an interfaith Bible study, lovingly called the Heresy Huddle. Even there, for 1 1/2 hours a month...with one exception, the food can be meager. So, as I mull and pray, I wonder if this is the best course of action; whether it will be more of an honor to God or self. God will reveal and time will tell. Please be in prayer. Dorothea

| Well, greetings all. After some affectionate nagging from Kristen I decided to update my xanga and to my shock, it has been almost a year! I always hesitate to write because I'm not convinced that I have anything you all woulod want to read...so read on...at your own risk. Big happenings this year... after 9 1/2 years of ministry at First United Methodist Church Buffalo, I was appointed 1/2 time as an interim, to Trinity UMC. Wonderful people with church growth and unity issues. In July, as I continue my appointment at Bethany UMC, I will begin serving Tonawanda UMC. It is a small but faithful congregation of about 50 people. They too are worried about church growth, but most small churches are. I am looking forward to the challenges of a new church coupled with the stability of remaining at Bethany. Kristen has almost graduated. She did " the walk" and now has to complete her student teaching before she can receive the certificate! We are so proud of her walk as a Christian, with her academic accomplishments andskill with the violin, but most of all for the joy she brings to our family. She is a wonderful gift of God and we are thankful. My parents (Mom- 91 and Dad- 88) are doing well. They continue to live in their own home and are generally self-sufficient, as they prefer to be. Frailty kept them from attending the festivities at Wheaton ( Kristen's recital and graduation). Thank goodness for DVDs and live-stream from WETN TV. We are looking forward to a busy summer, spending time with family and friends; maybe some of your as well! That's all for now folks. I have some theological mutterings but those are for another time. It's Friday and I have a half-baked sermon that needs some serious prayer and attention. After that, I'm off to the Final Farewell Party for our local PBS Auction Workers. As we no longer have the auction and did not have the opportunity to say good-bye to the people we have worked with for so many years. So, this should be a great party. Bye for now. Dorothea ( Savannah, Charlotte and Sophie too)

| Reflections of a wonderful summer. Heat and humidity makes for long, lazy days. We have had a great deal of both. The summer began with Keshie traveling to the Holy Land for a taste of Christian history and inspiration. Prayers were sent...xanga messages received. God's blessings were abundant. We had a recent visit from Kristen's friend Jeremy. What a pleasure! He managed to be with us during days of amazing heat and rain. However, they were good sports through it all, even wading through the flooded streets just ahead of the lightening! On August 13th, following worship, I will travel to Chicago to attend our United Methodist Clergywomen's Consultation where we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the ordination of women in the Methodist Church. Imagine, 1,400 clergywomen from around the world. It will ceratinly be amazing. As an added opportunity to serve, I have been asked to be one of the sign language interpreters for our deaf attendees. God has been so gracious to us all. I'm looking forward to a wonderful time of worship faith-sharing and celebration Welcome to my xanga site. I expect to have about 2 hits. Clearly you are one of them. Thanks. I'll be back!
